I know what you are thinking. Deron Williams? Why would we want that guy back? He has been injured and we don't want him back. Well, relax Jazz fans, as that was just a ruse to get you to read this fanpost. I am of course referring to DERRICK Williams. Derrick Williams had a pretty uneventful career thus far with the Timberwolves, but was traded to the Sacramento Kings this season for Dante Cunningham. In the month of January Derrick Williams has been averaging 10.8 points per game alongside 4 rebounds per game. Our own Williams is averaging 7 points per game and 4 rebounds per game during this stretch in similar minutes, playing around 24 minutes a game instead of Derrick's 26. The Timberwolves traded Derrick Williams for Dante Cunningham, a player that is playing 15 minutes a game for the Wolves and was meant mainly for cap space next season as well as being a solid defender. This brought to my mind a question I just couldn't ignore, and that was simply a Williams-Williams swap. Should the Jazz have jumped on the opportunity to trade Marvin for Derrick? Marvin was coming back from an injury but had already played in several games when Derrick was traded. Marvin would give the Wolves a lot of cap space for next summer, but would tie the Jazz up with another young player with a contract of 6 million plus next year's option for a little above that. Would a Derrick and Derrick frontcourt have gelled effectively instead of having Marvin? Marvin is a much better shooter from three, but Derrick is full of the potential and athleticism that our young team has in a season of discovery. Leave your comments, would you have wanted to see another D-Will in a Jazz jersey? Did Dennis Lindsey miss a chance on a solid piece?
