I was reading an interesting note on Hoopshype.com that the Cavs will not offer Kyrie Irving a Max extension this offseason and that he might force a trade. This may be the perfect time to unload the assets we have been stock piling and flip them for a team of actual superstars.
PG Trey Burke
#23 Pick in 2014 Draft
2016 Jazz 1st
2017 Warriors 1st
#5 pick in 2014 draft
#35 pick in 2014
2015 Jazz 2nd round pick
2017 Jazz 2nd round pick
PG Kyrie Irving
PG Jarret Jack (salary dump by Cavs)
#3 Pick in 2014 draft (guarantees us Parker or Wiggins)
Kyrie Irving would be a restricted free agent at the end of next year so he could not leave without us allowing it. I would be fine giving him max, he is worth it. After this trade we would have 7 guaranteed contracts on our roster totalling $37.2 million dollars. That would allow us to spend $26 million to fill out our roster and to an amazing core of Irving, Favors, Burks, Parker/Wiggins (along with Jack, Evans, and Gobert).
What do y'all think? Would we be giving up too much? I think it is a realistic deal as far as compensation is concerned.
