Utah Jazz to add Mike Wells to coaching staff

Not this guy. - Mike Hewitt

Actual nooz!

Ed. There is no confirmation on what the job will be with the Jazz, so it could be a radio job for all we know -- we are assuming it will be a coaching job. It could be a coaching job with the Idaho Stampede for all we know. It's to be an assistant coach with the Jazz.

The Utah Jazz are reported to be hiring Mike Wells from the Toledo Men's team, according to Jordan Strack:

This is important news because we are finally figuring out who Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder is filling his staff with. Wells has been a member of the Houston Rockets org, which is where Dennis Lindsey got his start.

To quote smarter people:

Wells’ NBA career began in 1995 with the eventual NBA Champion Houston Rockets (1995-2004) where he worked his way up from assistant video coordinator to assistant coach. From there, he went on to fill the same position with the Los Angeles Lakers (2004-05) under Rudy Tomjanovich before spending four seasons with the San Antonio Spurs (2005-09) that featured the 2007 NBA Championship title. He wrapped up his time in the NBA with the Washington Wizards (2009-11).

Wells and Tomjanovich also worked together during his time as the head scout for Team USA (1998-2003) where he helped produce not only the gold-medal team for the 2000 Summer Olympics, but the bronze-medal team at the 1998 FIBA World Championships and the squads for the 1999 and 2003 Pre Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.

I do not know much about his coaching style or specialty. But I am sure we will all find out soon enough. So this brings us to Snyder, Wells, open spaces, and possible returns for Brad Jones, and player development coaches Alex Jensen and Johnnie Bryant. It's no Messina, but it's a start.
