Wow, so LeBron returned to Cleveland, Bosh is going to Houston, and now Wade is left to dry. What a crazy turn of events this offseason has been.
The influx of extra cap space for the first time in at least half a decade is also leading teams to being big spenders for free agents this summer. We'll see a few years down the line if this egregious spending actually turns out to be the right call for teams in hindsight.
Anyways, I've been pretty swamped with full-time work and working on my thesis this week, so my fanpost this week may be a bit less thorough. Let's move on to my offseason predictions!
Free agent predictions:
The Jazz will match Gordon Hayward's max contract offer as they stated.
Dwyane Wade will play for a team that misses the playoffs this season.
Ray Allen to the Cavs.
Jazz offseason predictions:
Rodney Hood will look great in summer league and be an excellent shooter who continues to work on his defense.
Dante Exum will struggle, a la Burke, but will look beautiful in everything that doesn't involve shooting, he is super speedy and fairly composed.
Trey Burke and Dante Exum will play well off of each other but continue to struggle shooting from long range.
Rudy Gobert will be a beast who stands head and shoulders above the rest.
Malcolm Thomas will play well enough to earn a spot on the roster for the season.
Ian Clark will be cut, because the Jazz owe JL3.
No free agent signing of a player capable of starting on a winning team will be made. My guess is 1 more 3rd string wing and 1 more 3rd string big.
Kanter will be signed to a 4-year $46 Million extension.
Burks' camp will want $12MM+ per year, Jazz will hold at $10MM, no agreement will be made.
Favors and Burke will be the team captains this fall.
Well thanks for reading. That's all I got for today. Feel free to leave your own predictions of whatever you think will happen this offseason.
