Sneaky, Devious Quin.... He wants these fouls, here's why.

Much was said about Quin Snyder's visit to Seattle and meeting with Pete Carroll and learning from his style of coaching and gain some insight.

First off, this is what makes me love Quin. He's literally spent decades going to all parts of the world to learn from all types of coaches. Including coaches from differing sports. He wants to learn because he wants to win. And, like the mad scientist he is, Quin will try to find whatever ingredient he can to set his team over the top. And I think I just realized that Quin discovered one of these ingredients from the Seahawks.

He wants the Jazz to get fouls. He WANTS Derrick to get two fouls in the second quarter.

Ooooohhh his plan is so devious. I love it so much.

What is one of the calling cards of the Seahawks? A physical, dominating defense that overpowers the opponents with their exceptional size and length.

Sound familiar?

But what happens if you ware in a new arena with new refs that aren't familiar with your size? You are gonna get some cheap ass fouls. Like we've been getting.

Ahhh the pawns are falling into place.

The first aspect to this plan that makes me excited is Quin is thinking long term. When other teams are firing their coaches because their "MVP" caliber player doesn't play defense, or others are just trying to keep their group of crazy ego's together, Quin is looking at the early part of the season to establish a report with officials. Sorry, DIRTY ZEBRAS FROM HELL. The officials, one by one, are learning the physicality of the players and they're calling bad fouls. And you know what the Jazz are gonna do? Send in tape. Tape of fouls the refs called and it will be sent to officials and they will learn to not be so quick to call Favors for a physical defense.

Sound like anybody in the NFL? Maybe that team that commits borderline PI on every pass because they've got that rep?

Yup, that's what Quin's doing right now. And so when the Jazz get into the playoffs this year. The refs will be familiar. They'll know how the Jazz play and they'll know that a foul on a Jazz big isn't the same as on another teams weak stretch 4.

So tonight, if we get the foul call on Derrick again, just know that it's part of Quin's plan. Maybe we can see why he's not getting the techs and not as angry as we would have thought. It's a crazy plan but, if we know anything about Quin it's that he's a mad scientist. Or an evil villain. And we all get to enjoy his devious plan.
