What changes do the Jazz need to make? Any trade rumblings or moves?
Ric Bucher
(1:44 PM)Always love hearing from my people in Salt Lake. (Because, as you know, I have so many of them.) I expected Utah to be a team that would try to make a change but I'm told they're standing pat, according to other GMs.
"Ask anybody in the Mavericks' organization what their first thought was when they heard DeShawn Stevenson was going to be part of the trade that also netted Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood, and the analysis would likely have been something like this: Free spirit, full of himself, flaky. On the court, opinions may have been even worse. Eight months later, the shooting guard has proved every one of those observations dead wrong. Stevenson's iffy reputation may have been justified earlier in his career. In fact, he realizes now that it probably was well-deserved. But those tough times have served him well later in a career that is entering its 11th season. He knows now that some of the harsh things that happened when he was a first-round pick as a teenager for Utah worked out for the best. 'Playing with Jerry Sloan -- Jerry's a strict coach and we had our ups and downs, but I think he made me stronger as a player,' Stevenson said. 'I try not to get mad about certain situations now. He [Sloan] was tough, but he made me who I am now. If I didn't go through that kind of system and that caliber of coach, I wouldn't be in the NBA right now.' "
Offically signed and a part of the Utah Jazz..
Free agent center Francisco Elson is leaning towards signing with the Utah Jazz, one source told HoopsHype.
Orem, Utah, August 5, 2010 – The Utah Flash announced today that Drew Sellers has been promoted to the position of Team President. Sellers is being promoted from his previous position as Vice-President of Operations and Communications. Sellers will handle the day-to-day operations of the team.
Joe Brown, who had previously served as Team President, will devote his time to other projects inside G Code Ventures, and will continue as an advisor to the team.
"We have worked side by side with Drew for years and have complete confidence that he will continue to run a quality and successful organization," Brown said.
Sellers has been with the Utah Flash since the team’s first season and has served in various roles inside of the organization including public relations, community relations, sales and marketing, and operations. Prior to his time with the Flash, Sellers worked with the Edelman public relations firm in Silicon Valley. Sellers is a graduate of Brigham Young University.
Tony Allen to the Grizzlies.
Another decent SG off the market. Probably also means thats Ronnie Brewer will not be resigned.
I don't get why Allen is only a 3 year/ 10 million guy but Wes is worthy of a 5 year/ 34 million. Freakin Blazers!
Locke says Heat might do S&T with Utah or Dallas
Sources say 3 way trade between #Bucks #Cavs #Nets. Redd to Cavs, Harris to Bucks, Ilyasova, Jamison to Nets. Possible more involved.
"[Kobe] draws so much attention. You give too much help, somebody else is open. If you don't give enough help, he's got what he wants; kind of like Miss America. She gets what she wants." -Jerry Sloan

Are the Jazz truly committed to winning a championship, or just being good every year while being financially conservative at the same time. With their signing of a D-leaguer for the 13th spot it kind of seems like they aren't truly committed and not willing to pay the $$$ for a true title contender. Your thoughts?
John Hollinger (1:00 PM)Yes and no. They are paying luxury tax for this team and did step up to match the offer to Millsap, so you can't exactly accuse them of being skinflints. And for what it's worth, I like Othyus Jeffers and though he should have been in the league last year. That said, the Brewer/Maynor trades showed the limits of their enthusiasm financially .... put it this way: I expect Utah to be one of the teams lobbying hardest for a hard cap.
