Golden State is sending multiple draft picks to Utah to unload the $24 million, including 2014 first-rounder, sources tell Y!— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) July 5, 2013
Well, next season Andris Biedrins will earn $9,000,000 dollars, and Richard Jefferson only $11,046,000 dollars. They both expire, as does Marvin Williams' $7,500,000. That, right there, means we're going to be super flexible. What also helps is that we get some picks back. I don't know how many, but at least it is reported that we get back their unprotected 2014 1st rounder.
We've displayed a willingness to move picks to trade up, so that is in the play for our team next year as well.
And these moves all scream "next year."
Of course, the piece de resistance, is that we are also bringing back Brandon Rush, who will also make $4,000,000 next year. He's a hot shooting wing who may be the only real player we get back next year. Andris is a solid rotation bigman who lost all his confidence. And Richard Jefferson is, well, the Spurs didn't want him anymore. So therefore he should not be someone we want either.
The additions of Brandon, Richard, and Andris also are a mouthwatering-ly irresistible group of flawed and over the hill veterans that our head coach Tyrone Corbin will love to give many minutes to. Our Rooks (in reality: guys in their 3rd and 4th year) gotta earn their minutes.
Also we may be moving Kevin Murphy back there in this deal too. So, fun.
EDIT: Here's the deal (so far)
- Kevin Murphy G/F
- Brandon Rush G/F
- Richard Jefferson G/F
- Andris Biedrins C
- Golden State 2014 1st rounder (unprotected)
- Golden State 2017 1st rounder (unprotected)
