According to super connected media member, and fellow Desi guy, Shams Charania, erstwhile Utah Jazz small forward Gordon Hayward is on a jet plane, and we don't know when he'll be back again. He is going to sign the Charlotte Hornets offer sheet:
Restricted free agent Gordon Hayward is headed tonight to sign the Charlotte Hornets' $63 million max offer sheet, source tells RealGM.— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) July 10, 2014
This is an interesting report, if true. Because, well, I know for a fact that Hayward has a basketball camp in Midvale Utah for kids scheduled for the 10th and 11th of July. Which would, well, make it hard to be in two places at once. Nick Berta and Julie Roberts, of ProCamps, e-mailed me Gordon's schedule -- and the camps are at 9 am to 12 pm MT time for today and tomorrow.
Either Shams is wrong (which is rare), or Hayward has to cancel one of his camp days. This would suck for at least half of the over 100 kids who have signed up. Furthermore, this camp has some actual sponsors and so forth, they don't want to pay money for a name bball player's camp, and then not have him there.
I don't know if there is a flight from CHA to SLC early enough to get him back in time for the first day of his camp. But we'll see what happens.
UPDATE: 6:08 AM MT: AP writer Steve Reed confirms signing. Does not indicate location.
