Okay fellows, there have been nine in-season trades so far this year. The NBA Trade Deadline is on the 23rd (Thursday) so there’s still time to see some shake ups. But before we get there we need to take a look at what’s happened so far. So, here it is:
I decided not to indicate who were the winners / losers of each of these trades because it all remains to be seen. The Toronto Raptors are hoping that Serge Ibaka can get them to the NBA Finals. The Cleveland Cavaliers have made a number of moves to give them the players and/or space to add other players so that they can return there.
There have been no three-team trades just yet. But you never know what’s going to happen. The Big News was the recent block-buster where DeMarcus Cousins and BFF forward Omri Casspi are going to the New Orleans Pelicans for a Pu Pu platter of Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, Buddy Hield and picks. Clearly it looks like the Sacramento Kings lost on the court. But maybe the Kings aren’t doing this trade for the ‘on the court’ effect on the franchise, but all the other stuff that we don’t see off the court?
Probably.
Are the Utah Jazz going to make a move?
Maybe.
But from what we’ve seen so far most teams are trading picks and cash for rotation players (Jerami Grant, Ersan Ilyasova, Kyle Korver, two Plumlee brothers, etc). Utah has picks and cash and rotation players galore.
