Game 26 Game Day Preview / Game Thread: Utah Jazz @ Memphis Grizzlies

Photo

Tonight the Utah Jazz start off their amazing three games in three nights trip. Game 1 of the back-to-back-to-back is tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies. Tomorrow night the Jazz tip off against the New Orleans Hornets in Louisiana. The night after that? Final road game facing off against those darlings, the Oklahoma City Thunder. The rest of the week doesn't seem so hard in comparison when the Washington Wizards roll into down for the Guess the Game Score game of the Week. Don't worry, I made a map.

Can you believe only ONE of these teams is in the Eastern Conference?

Anyway, let's not get too head of ourselves -- tonight is the Grizzlies for Game 2 of our 3 game season series against them. We beat them last time at home, when they were playing without All-Star Zach Randolph, and serviceable reserve Darrell Arthur. This time around -- yep, they are both still out. That's fine with me because spectacular forward Rudy Gay and follicular center Marc Gasol will be enough.

This season the Jazz have been pretty bad on the road, and I don't expect things to change during this road trip. Memphis has lost 7 of their last 11 games. We're not exactly on a hot streak either right now. Something has to give. Old man Corbin may even play Alec Burks tonight? Naaaah . . . .

Game 25 Game Thread – February 10, 2012: Oklahoma City Thunder @ Utah Jazz

The good guys against the bad guys. The Oklahoma City Thunder have the best record in the western conference, are led by two All-Stars in Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook -- and in the off-season they nurse back to health injured baby unicorns. I guess that makes us the bad guys then. If that's the case, let's be bad and rough up the "teacher's pet team" that this league loves so much. The Utah Jazz are an inside/no out team that pounds it in the paint and have 13 wins somehow, despite getting nearly nothing from their guards this year. Jazz starters Devin Harris and Raja Bell, combined, average 15.4 ppg this season. OKC has three guys who average more than that by themselves.

That said, if OKC are the good guys, let's be the bad guys. And let's make life rough for the good guys.

Starters:

Oklahoma City vs. Utah
Thunder Jazz
Kendrick Perkins C Al Jefferson
Serge Ibaka PF Paul Millsap
Kevin Durant SF Gordon Hayward
Daequan Cook SG Raja Bell
Russell Westbrook PG Devin Harris

I have yet to watch this game, so talk about it here. Heard the Jazz made a comeback. All I can ask is that they play hard.

Game 24 Game Thread – February 7, 2012: Utah Jazz @ Indiana Pacers

Tonight the Jazz take on the Pacer in Indiana. It is a home coming for Gordon Hayward, where he will be tested early and often by the Pacers Danny Granger and Paul George. Indiana is a solid team, while we were still trying to figure out who we are.

Utah Jazz @ Indiana Pacers
Al Jefferson Roy Hibbert
Paul Millsap David West
Gordon Hayward Danny Granger
Raja Bell Paul George
Devin Harris Darren Collison
Earl Watson George Hill (INJ)
C.J. Miles Dahntay Jones
Josh Howard Tyler Hansbrough
Derrick Favors Jeff Foster (INJ)

Stuck at work. Blah. Sorry for the lack of fun, fact filled game threads as of late . . .

Game 23 – February 6, 2012: Utah Jazz @ New York Knicks

Photo

The Utah Jazz face off against the New York Knicks in 30 mins from now. Seriously. I'm not organized enough to have a flashy game thread up in time for something like an East Coast Game -- and I live in the Eastern Standard Time Zone. Man. Knicks will be playing without Amar'e Soudemire who lost his brother. I expect the Knicks to play with a lot of heart as a result.

Utah Jazz New York Knicks
Al Jefferson Tyson Chandler
Paul Millsap Jared Jeffries
Gordon Hayward Carmelo Anthony
Raja Bell Landry Fields
Devin Harris Jeremy Lin
Earl Watson Iman Shumpert
C.J. Miles Toney Douglas
Josh Howard Renaldo Balkman
Derrick Favors Steve Novak

No major injuries for the Jazz, Knicks w/o Amar'e, but also without Baron Davis and Josh Harrellson

Game 22 – February 4, 2012: Los Angeles Lakers @ Utah Jazz

Utah Jazz fans taunt Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant with a picture from a recent fashion shoot during the second half of Game 3 of a second-round NBA basketball playoff series in Salt Lake City, Saturday, May 8, 2010. The Lakers won 111-110. (AP Photo/Chris Carlson)

The Los Angeles Lakers will be facing off against our Utah Jazz for the 3rd time this season, and the 3rd time in only 22 games. Wow. How much more can learn from these experiences? Well, hopefully a lot. The Lakers aren't the same team that used to give us fits for years. These Lakers give us fits because we fail to play them at our best. We almost had them in Game 2 of this seasons' series -- but lost nevertheless. We should have Earl Watson, and possibly also Devin Harris back for this game.

The Lakers played last night and they started Derek Fisher, Kobe Bryant, Metta World Peace, Pau Gasol, and All-Star Andrew Bynum. They kind of got jobbed on a number of calls last night; so, yeah. Expect some level of business to happen tonight. If we're healthy we'll roll with Devin Harris, Raja Bell, Gordon Hayward, Paul Millsap, and Al Jefferson.

Sorry again for the lack of an awesome game thread -- those are coming back but remixed with your suggestions next week.

Nothing unifies people better than a common foe. There is no foe greater than the Lakers.

Don't forget to get your "Guess the Game Score" guesses in before tip off.

Game 20 – February 1, 2012: Los Angeles Clippers @ Utah Jazz

Tonight there is a double-header on ESPN (Oklahoma City Thunder at Dallas Mavericks ; then LA Clippers at Utah Jazz). I haven't slept much lately (2 hours in the last 24), so I'm going to make this a simple game thread:

Go Get 'Em Boys!

Feel free to keep things nice in the game thread. Talk about both games, be nice to all the fans, even if they come over and are not nice to you. By 'slacking' on this game thread I am dedicating myself to more fun, cool, informative, content rich posts for the site. Enjoy.
