NBA Summer League
Rocky Mountain Revue pics
I sucked in my coverage of the RMR this year. I had some things come up and couldn't get to any of the games except the last one. And I have some audio interviews but lost my USB cord for my recorder. Anyway, here are the pictures that I was able to get.
Almond is always a good interview
Rocky Mountain Revue Game Thread - Dallas @ Utah
We wrap up the Revue against the Mavs from Dallas. After the end of the Revue we usually have quite a bit of time off until the start of training camp and the pre-season.
Luckily we have the Olympics this year and we have Booze & Williams to watch for.
Rocky Mountain Revue Game Thread - Atlanta @ Utah
We get to see Hotlanta again. It's kind of disappointing in that we don't play Golden State in the Revue.
It's also the local state holiday of the 24th of July. No, we just didn't add on a 2 onto the fourth and create a new holiday. For those that aren't in the know, the 24th is when Brigham and company arrived in the SL Valley.
So lots going on in Utah today with parades, festivities, and fireworks. Could be a slow night at the Revue if everyone is out.
Rocky Mountain Revue Game Thread - New Jersey @ Utah
The return of Jaycee Carroll to the Beehive State. We'll also get to see one of the Lopez twins. I believe this is NJ's first visit to the Revue.
Rocky Mountain Revue Game Thread - Atlanta @ Utah
Game two of the RMR pits the Hawks against the Jazz. Should be a similar team for the ATL as last year's team.
Rocky Mountain Revue Game Thread - San Antonio @ Utah
One of the great things about SBNation is that game threads are automatically scheduled. The Revue games are not though. So, I'm getting these set up in advance in case I forget later
The Jazz open the Rocky Mountain Revue against the SAS. I'll likely be at the games, so here's a game thread. While the NBA will be broadcasting the Vegas summer league online, it doesn't look like the RMR will have the same privilege.
Let's get the 2008-2009 seasons started.
Rocky Mountain Revue Rosters are out
Rocky Mountain Revue Rosters
Still nothing for the NBDA team, the Iranians, or the Jazz though. What's taking so long?
Some notables:
Speedy Claxton. What's a seven-year player doing here? He's made $26 million in his career and still has $10 M left on his contract. See what happens when you don't draft a good PG Atlanta?
Louis Amundson. On again, off again Jazz summer-leaguer. He was probably the second best player at last year's Revue behind Millsap. Don't know why he can't land a solid deal. He'll be fighting for a spot with GS. With their team this year, he has a good chance.
Marco Belinelli. They guy most Jazz fans wanted in last year's draft. GS took him instead. Looked like we missed out when he has a huge summer league. But we didn't do jack in the regular season.
Jaycee Carroll. Local boy done good. He has an outside shot at making the NJ sqaud.
Brook Lopez. The highest pick from the 2008 draft in attendance.
Anthony Randolph. Another lottery pick. He seems to be either destined as a steal or a bust. No middle ground here.
Chris Douglas-Roberts. Some fans wanted to draft him instead of Koufos
Roger Powell. The former Utah draftee still trying to find a team.
Al Horford. He'll be there, but won't see any action in games.
Gerald Green. Part of the Celtics trade to the Wolves for KG. I thought he had a lot of upside. Now he's struggling to gain a roster spot.
Keith McCleoud. Another former Jazz man. Didn't play last year in the league.
So, there's no Kevin Durant or any other big name players. I guess the league wants to keep this going but they're not making any big teams come to the SLC. It's still great basketball and die-hard Jazz fans needing their fix will be in attendance at the SLC.
I'll update this as other players are added.
Rocky Mountain Revue Game Thread - Iran @ Utah
Interesting how most media outlets still have this game as '07 FIBA Asian Champion against Utah. Since we know who the champ is, it should be listed.
Anyway, Utah has the chance to become either peacekeepers or the starters of an international incident. It's too bad Ahmadinejihad won't be in attendance. This game could see some national and international coverage.
Of course, not everyone in Iran is like Ahmadinejihad. These guys just like to play ball.
That said, I hope we crush them. And have your food storage and 72-hour kits up to date just in case.
