The Downbeat - 23 February 2010 - #172 - The Utah State Hey! Aggies all the way! Edition

Matt Harpring is available!  Go get him!

No recap coming from the game.  I was in and out, but mostly out, of watching the game.  I could only follow online at the end.  I did record it and watched the end, but I didn't feel I could give a full recap on it.

From what I did see though, it's hard to kill the Jazz for this one.  The Hawks are a very good team and despite not having won in the SLC since the Lincoln administration, they just a had the talent to edge out a hard-working Jazz team.  There's no question in my mind that had we had Deron, and probably more importantly AK, we would have won this game.

We would have been tied with Denver record-wise had we won.  We still would have been in third though given the head-to-head record with them.

After a couple of soft games this week, they head to LA and PHX next week and have OKC at home.  Their March schedule is about as tough as ours.  They have 16 games with 10 of those on the road against some tough teams.

March is going to be a great month.

I don't think we've given an official congrat to Memo and Yeliz on their newborn son.  Tebrikler!

If you've never been to an Aggie basketball game at the Spectrum, go now.  Or at least watch some YouTube videos.  It's no doubt one of the best places to see a game, pro or college.  Huge student section and crazy chants.  Paul remembers playing there when he was at LaTech,

The atmosphere is crazy. The students are on you all the time, the crowd is on top of you and it's hard to hear anything when you're on the court.

Boozer was named Western Conference player of the week.  He put up 20 & 15 over those four games.  I'd like to echo some of the sentiment from game threads and other posts in that he looks like a leader out there.  It's seemed a bit faux in previous seasons from my perspective.  He had declared himself a leader in the past without doing what a leader does, lead.

He's changed this season.  I've talked before about Deron really needing a co-leader, veteran type, that really isn't in that inner-circle of Deron, CJ, Millsap, Brewer, etc.  Could it be that we finally have one?
