Schedule Review: Old March 2012 vs. New March 2012

Do you remember back in the day when we had an 82 game schedule? If you forget some sap (not Millsap) came out with an Acid fueled, color fiesta of a Jazz schedule. If you still care (and seeing how all the websites have removed the old ones already - this may be your last chance to see it), you can check it out here. You may remember that our March was hideous. Now? Well, now the entire season is hideous for all teams, for each month. There's a lot to be upset about -- if this was a real season. For one, our first four games all happen in five nights. Later on in the season not only do we have to play three games in a row, but that last game (on the road at OKC) is the 4th game in 5 nights, and also the 6th game in 9 nights. However it's not just the number of games that we could normally complain about, but also which ones are scheduled. In March we now have a back-to-back set where we play BOTH NBA Finalists from last year, the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks. Also this year we only have one game against the Toronto Raptors and Detroit Pistons (among a number of Eastern Conference teams that we usually harvest yearly for wins). That said, because the schedule is bad for everyone we really can't complain about it, as Basketball John stated in the Downbeat today.

That said, it doesn't mean we still can't analyze it. After the jump we see The OLD March 2012 schedule and the NEW March 2012 schedule.

Old March '12

New March '12

First of all, I'm not longer going to try to track things like 5th games in 7 nights and all that junk. It just always happens in this type of season. Secondly, this also serves as a preview of the post coming later on tonight. Lastly, both are bad schedules.

By the way, the Jazz play ONE LESS GAME in the New March schedule than they would have normally played in the Old March schedule.
