Two days ago we played the dating game, and the contestants were our Jazz wing players: Raja Bell, Gordon Hayward, C.J. Miles, Alec Burks, and Josh Howard. The players were obscured by calling them Player A, B, C, D, and E. No one knew their heights, ages, wingspans, or experience in the league. As a result, I hope, we removed some biases we made have regarding youth vs. vets, or consistency vs. inconsistency. There was a vote, and while only 79 people voted, 72% of you voted to remove Player E from the Wing rotation.
It should come as no surprise that Player E was Josh Howard. The players were put into a not-so-hard-to-guess order of Player A (Raja Bell), B (Gordon Hayward), C (C.J. Miles), D (Alec Burks), and E (Josh Howard). Raja is shooting the best, but the stats show that he's not a great defender right now. Gordon does a little of everything and is the best passer -- though he's not hitting his threes. C.J. is a natural born scorer who has under-rated defense. Alec Burks is a monster -- and the Dating game didn't even talk about his ability to get to the free throw line at all. And well, Josh Howard was ultimately found to be sub-optimal.
Not that any of that matters to Tyrone Corbin though . . .
