Derrick Favors is a talented, exciting, young player. He does not get a lot of shine around the league, that's a product of him not getting a lot of playing time. Is it a fundamental problem like Favors not deserving playing time, or is it a structural problem where the Jazz fail to know how much younger guys should be played? I don't know. But here's a short list of guys who have played more than Favors has this season:
- Dante Cunningham, Memphis Grizzlies
- Nikola Pekovic, Minnesota Timberwolves
- Corey Brewer, Denver Nuggets (Isn't he their 5th wing?)
- Mike Dunleavy, Milwaukee Bucks (same here?)
- Daequan Cook, Oklahoma City Thunder
- Al-Farouq Aminu, New Orleans Hornets (dude was taken a few spots AFTER Favors)
- Chris Singleton, Washington Wizards,
- Ekpe Udoh, Golden State Warriors (same deal as Aminu)
- Matt Barnes, Los Angeles Lakers -- yeah, getting more mins than Favors
- Josh Howard, Utah Jazz (no comment)
- Isaiah Thomas, Sacramento Kings (team already has Tyreke Evans and Jimmer Fredette, btw)
- Goran Dragic, Houston Rockets (playing behind Kyle Lowry)
- Omri Casspi, Cleveland Cavaliers (playing behind Antawn Jamison)
- Chris Duhon, Orlando Magic (still somehow still in the NBA)
- Shaun Livingston, Milwaukee Bucks (yeah, the guy who had that bad injury)
- Patrick Patterson, Houston Rockets
- Ed Davis, Toronto Raptors
- Iman Shumpert, New York Knicks <--- that's truly Linsane right there.
So yeah, these are guys who have played more this year than Derrick Favors. Keep this in mind 3 years from now when we get upset that Favors still gets called for cheap fouls because the refs give him no respect because he didn't blow up early like other younger players. For the full list of all NBA players this year click here. And then sort by Minutes. Favors is at #195 this season.
