The lockout about to take its toll on the NBA?

First day of the Play-offs and we already have two brutal and potentially finals changing injuries.

Derrick Rose with a torn ACL, no more basketball for him. No olympics either. Really feel bad for the guy, and for all his ex-Jazz team mates.

Iman Shumpert out with a torn ACL too. 6-8 months. Wow. Not to mention the torn ACL is not exactly an easy injury to come back from. Sure, a superstar like Rose should return to his former glory, but what about poor Shumpert? This was a break out season for him as a defensive game changer. Will he have the same opportunity after a year or more of recovery?

Will the injury bug bight the Spurs-Jazz game? The Jazz's young core withstood injury this year, but how about our new/old nemesis San Antonio? A lot of stats are bouncing around about how few minutes Ginobli and Duncan played this season, with people hypothesising this will help in the playoffs. I'm inclined to think the opposite. If the Jazz fight and keep the game competitive for 48 minutes, does Pop play Ginobli 30+ minutes? Duncan and Ginobli really haven't played big minutes this season, if they start doing so in the playoffs I wonder about how their bodies will respond.

(Oh, and watching the Dallas v OKC game right now: People shouldn't sleep on Dallas. They know how to win playoffs game, and they match up quite well with the Thunder. If I were a Thunder fan, I would've been wanting to face the Jazz I think.)
