You may remember the name Kevin Murphy -- he was our #47 draft pick this year. We talked about him at length here, and he played for our summer league team this year. In the summer league he averaged 8.6 ppg (42.5 fg%, only 2 made threes, a paltry 1.08 PPS), 2.4 rpg, 1.0 apg for us in five games. He did not play like a lotto pick, which is fine. He was not a lotto pick. But he still showed me a few things to hope he gets a chance to make the team / fill out the roster.
The good news is that the SLTrib's Brian Smith reported today that the Utah Jazz and Murphy's people are in talks to get a deal done.

#UtahJazz have made progress in talks with second-round pick Kevin Murphy. Jazz hope to have him under contract before camp starts.
Signing Kevin Murphy would bring Utah's roster to 15, since Raja Bell hasn't been bought out and is still under contract with Jazz.

Talks with Murphy began under Kevin O'Connor and have been transferred to new GM Dennis Lindsey. Even with lingering Bell situation, ...

... all indications are Murphy will be with Jazz once camp begins in October.

Of course, Randy Foye is probably going to take his minutes this year; but I'm happy we have a rookie on the team (hopefully) so Enes Kanter and Alec Burks can shed their titles / duties as such.
