Let's be honest here, none of us would be here if it wasn't for Basketball John. In a time where Utah Jazz blogs were crawling out of the primordial Internet 1.0 soup of message boards and big media websites John got tagged up with SB Nation and made a place that we would continue to come to day in and day out all season long. Sure, there were other blogs, other Jazz blogs that were more popular - like True Blue Jazz; and there were very strong message board communities out there -- like JazzFanz. But what made SLC Dunk so awesome, or at least ONE of the reasons, was the synergy of being a blog that had great content while also being a great meeting place for Jazz fans to talk about the team they love.
John's hard work brought us so far, and he passed the torch to Clark, Moni, Yucca, Diana, Dustin, and I. We brought more posts per day, more content, more videos, more opinion, and more stats. We gave the community more, more, and more. Just recently we'd added some podcasts (but that's not even HALF of what we're doing with audio -- very big news to come soon), and we're also going to have original content video as well. But there is still more awesome changes to happen.
A few days ago we unveiled the new SLC Dunk Logo. It's part of a larger change at the SB Nation sites. It's not just a cosmetic change, it's a system wide unification that's going to propel what we do here into the stratosphere.
It's really a game changer.
New layout and graphics are the first steps -- our continued improvement in content is the other step. And well, there is a third step. It's the hardware and software improvements.
- SB Nation United is going to make our sites load faster and run better; meaning you can get to the content you want faster
- SB Nation United is going to make sure that you're seeing the best and brightest content up front with our flexible layout, modern design, and reduction of clutter
- SB Nation United is going to make the experience on our sites run seamlessly from every platform, whether mobile, tablet or computer. No matter where you are, the experience will not change
- SB Nation United will not take away or change any of the community elements you love like FanPosts, FanShots, and Game Threads
So with the new layout, new SLC Dunk content, and new software from SB Nation -- this blog -- OUR BLOG (not just contributors, or posters, but also lurkers) -- is going to be three steps ahead of the competition.
We are going to have some pretty awesome changes. You're going to love it. All of this is going to drop soon enough. Probably not soon enough for you ravenous fans, and probably a week TOO soon for me, as I'm 3 weeks behind where I wanted to be with what blog posts I have to write still . . .
All in all, we here at SLC Dunk are dedicated to kicking butt and being the best Utah Jazz blog there is. We are fans, and we write for fans. Eventually when my long form dreams of where to take this blog comes into fruition you'll all be happier than ever with your SLC Dunk experience.
After all, Rome wasn't built in a day.
