Behind Enemy Lines: Clips Nation

We take a look behind the scenes. Evidently, this isn't the website for Great Clips™.

Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

The Skinny

Steve Perrin gives his take on Blake Griffin's injury scare during a preseason scrimmage.

Griffin's injury isn't bad -- is it? - Clips Nation
Even if the official word is that a precautionary MRI showed no structural damage, it still feels like we've been here before. It doesn't help that "bone bruise" seems to be used as a generic catch-all for injuries. How long are players usually out with "bone bruises"? There is no usual. That's the whole point of the "bone bruise" -- it exists to describe an injury for which there is no treatment and for which the player could be out for any amount of time.

Steve, also, is giving player previews for every single player on the Clippers' roster.  In this one, he highlights Antawn Jamison.

2013-2014 Clipper Player Previews: Antawn Jamison - Clips Nation
So the good news is that Jamison might be the stretch four the Clippers have desperately sought for lo these many years. The bad news is that he's slow and undersized and will be a defensive and rebounding liability when he's on the floor.

This is a really cool thing that Clips Nation does every year during preseason.  They have a big outing at one of the preseason games and afterwards they play a few pick up games on the court afterwards.  Yes, in STAPLES CENTER.

Clips Nation Night 2013: Clips Nation takes the court again! - Clips Nation
For the fourth season in a row, Clips Nation will host a group ticket event for a Clippers game that features court time after the game. We've got a great game this time, the Clippers against the Nets in the reunion of Doc Rivers with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.  And it's on a Saturday, so we don't have to get up early the next morning for school or work!

If you have attended one of these in the past, you know how cool it is to get to play some hoops on the Clippers court at the conclusion of the game. If you haven't attended before, now's your chance.

Citizen Zhiv gives his thoughts on Clippers vs Blazers.

A Few Thoughts on Clippers-Blazers - Clips Nation
You know what else I didn't like? I didn't love the Collison and Crawford combination, but that might have been affected by missing Barnes and also by the Mulligan. Bledsoe's bledsoeness was a fantastic complement to Crawford's crawfordity. On the whole Collison looks to be a premier backup, and we can give Crawford all sorts of time to find his mojo; it doesn't have to be around during the preseason, that's for sure.

I think they're a good value

same with Hyundai. I had an Elantra once and it was totally solid.

I've heard good things about those

If you stay with Honda/Toyota, you’ll be solid

That's in terms of used reliability

My sister and mom both own a Lexus, and they are wonderfully reliable. On the cheaper side, we have had a 2000 Accord for just about ever, no problems at all. Stay Japanese

i would probably avoid germans used.. especially anything made by VW or audi.

my last car WAS new when i bought it a 2010 A4 , and it blew injectors, had the exhaust system fail, burned tons of oil. all in the first 3 years.

my current car is abmw, and has been ok, but still they cost too much to maintain.

now a good reliable used car…. that is decent looking and will probably run forever. 1st gen acura TSX. if you can find an 04 or 05 model probably around $10k. might be worth a look if thats in your price range (had one before, car is bulletproof)

Will it be called the Hann Mobile?

I had an A4 for a short period of time.

Are you strictly shopping on that site

Or is Craigslist also an option?

"ClipperNation-LoveLine"- Lawler's Law

I don't really like craigslist

just because I would rather buy from a dealer. even if it’s more expensive it’s more reliable. I’m using kbb, autotrader, cars.com, as well as searching individual dealers’ inventories.

Virtus tentamine gaudet- "Strength rejoices with challenge"

Seems like a good deal.

That’s low miles for one of those. Those engines last almost literally forever. Just remember it’s a V6, so your gas mileage won’t be as good as a newer, 4 cylinder car.

yeah that's my one reservation but it's in really good shape and it's not like I'll drive it a ton.

I have a friend who lives in Brooklyn who has the exact same car

It’s indestructible.

Camry

I live in SF and I had a 1994 Camry for a while as my "city car," since I knew it would get trashed being parked on the streets. I’ve owned a fair number of cars: a couple Porsches, old and new BMWs, a Volvo, an old Range Rover, a Subaru, this Camry. And the Camry was by far the most indestructible and reliable car. It needed nothing and when I did do maintenance or replace a smashed window, it was incredibly inexpensive. Like literally 20% of the cost of something on a BMW. But I hated being seen it and it was like driving a toaster (and I had the V6). If reliability and running costs are the primary factor for you, the Camry cannot be beat. Toyota mastered the art of the control of variance in their manufacturing, and it shows. There’s just nothing about their designs that inspires any (positive) emotional qualities….

Then they FINALLY got back to posting on basketball. But one guy just wouldn't give up. And at the very, VERY end of the thread he posted this.

thoughts on Suzuki Verona?
