This is the last game for the Utah Jazz on this long road trip, so hooray! The Memphis Grizzlies lost two games in a row, so boo -- they'll be motivated to play tonight! When they were the Vancouver Grizzlies the Jazz started off against them something like 16-0 or something, if I remember correctly. Utah remains 47-23 all-time against them, but still a surprising 20-15 against them in their gym. Last season Memphis took all three games, and since moving to TN the team has been a lot tougher (and the Jazz much worse than their Finals years).
This could be a Finals year for the Grizzlies, which is really cool. (Also, as a Canadian, it's awesome to see the Raptors and Grizz amongst the best teams in the league right now)
Memphis has a great defense and plays slowly, which is a force multiplier against undisciplined offensive teams that crumble under the grit and grind of the Grizz.
Starters:
PG: Trey Burke vs. Mike Conley
SG: Alec Burks vs. Courtney Lee
SF: Gordon Hayward vs. Tayshaun Prince
PF: Enes Kanter vs. Jon Leuer
C: Derrick Favors vs. Marc Gasol
Injuries:
- Zach Randolph (MEM) -- OUT
- Tony Allen (MEM) -- OUT
- Jarnell Stokes (MEM) -- NBA-DL
- Jordan Adams (MEM) -- NBA-DL
- Trevor Booker (UTA) -- OUT, excused, not with the team, had a small procedure . . . I don't know what it was
This is also the home coming game for Ian Clark, who played at Belmont. It would be fun if he gets to play. Remember years ago during a Jazz/Bulls blowout and the Chicago crowd wanted Dee Brown in the game and were chanting for him -- and Jerry Sloan didn't put him in? Yeah, that was an odd night.
Tonight could be an odd night as well. I don't know if it will be, as I'm not going to watch this game live.
