In game one of the 2015-2016 NBA Preseason the Utah Jazz defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 90-71 (Game Preview - Game Thread - Game Recap - Game Chasedown). If the Jazz blowout the Lakers by nearly 20 every time they play in Hawa'ii I may just hope to play some regular season and playoff games there too! Or, you know, it could just be the smallest of sample sizes ever, and it's just one preseason game. Albeit, the first one -- also known as the furthest game away from the NBA Finals. Tonight's game should be a continuation on a theme for both Bryon Scott and Quin Snyder. These two head coaches need to find a balance to their teams -- and despite the lopsided score, these two teams are somewhat still starting from the bottom.

The Lakers are essentially an AIDS quilt of hopes, dreams, legacies, and rookies. The Jazz really have trouble scoring at times, but shield that by playing slowly and focusing on defense. You have to play to your strengths, but I think both teams are still finding out what those are. (And really, I think this team COULD be better on offense than on defense when everyone gels.) Both squads are facing some injuries, missing point guards Dante Exum and Marcelo Huertas. Both international guards know how to run a team, and would really make the game more fun to watch. Instead we get D'Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson against Trey Burke and Raul Neto. That match-up will be much better to watch three years from now than it is today. The wildcard, and I hope we get to see some of him, could be Jazz everyman Bryce Cotton. Mr. Bold Move has explosive athleticism and looked very good in garbage time to end last season. He recieved a DNP-CD in the first preseason game. He should be ready for lift-off tonight.
