Tonight Marc Gasol will square off against his nemesis, Rudy Gobert. It almost feels strange to type that, but Rudy Gobert is Gasol's nemesis for the future. It all began on that FIBA World Cup game, Spain vs France. Rudy's coming out party. Rudy Gobert has since improved since that fateful game. Not many guys can guard Marc Gasol and give him trouble on the offensive end. Rudy is one of those rare players. Check out Rudy's #s.

The improvement over one season is remarkable. And he's just getting better. The Utah Jazz expect to win every time they walk out onto the court. The main reason for that is Gobert and Favors defending the paint. Those two Block Brothers have changed the way offenses attack the Utah Jazz. It's allowed the Jazz's wing defenders to improve and take more gambles on the ball. It's allowed Trey Burke not to get killed in screen and rolls. It's changed the swag of the team. This team has got swag and it's missing its swag mascot, Alec Burks.
As Grizzly Bear Blues has said, the Memphis Grizzlies will look to get Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors in early foul trouble.
Zach's work on the block may be hampered a bit in this game as he encounters two longer, more athletic bigs in Rudy Gobert & Derrick Favors. Gobert has been the biggest beneficiary of the move of Enes Kanter to Oklahoma City, and has thrived in his new role as the definitive starter alongside Favors. It bears watching whether Gobert defends Marc Gasol or Randolph to start the contest; Gobert, at 7'1", makes sense on Gasol, so that leaves Favors for Randolph. The young Jazz big men are going to pose challenges, especially for Zach, due to their size & ability to defend.
See the rest of their preview of tonight's game here.
I'm just going to leave this here.
