The NBA Summer League returns to Utah, after a long hiatus (2008 till now). We've talked about it several times over the months when rumors turn into fact, and so forth. I think we wrote about it pretty early because of the info we got a little bit before Utah media people through our connections with the Philly web team, but no one is keeping score. Except the score keepers at the Utah Jazz Summer League! (Not to be confused with the similar but distinct in trademark Rocky Mountain Revue) The presser is over here at the NBA.com site, but the main details were pretty much known by now.
SALT LAKE CITY (May 18, 2015) - The Utah Jazz have announced that tickets for the 2015 Utah Jazz Summer League will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20. Fans may purchase lower bowl tickets for as low as $8 for a one-day pass or $15 for a three-day pass. A one-day pass provides access to both games played on that day.
The Utah Jazz Summer League is a six-game, four-team event to be held July 6-9 at EnergySolutions Arena, featuring the Jazz, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs. Tickets can be purchased at the EnergySolutions Arena box office, online at utahjazz.com or by phone at (801) 355-SEAT.
Each participating team will play three games over the four-day span. Nightly doubleheaders will be played at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday, July 6; Tuesday, July 7; and Thursday, July 9. No league games will be played on Wednesday, July 8.
Because I'm clearly insane I drafted the games here:
76ers | Celtics | Jazz | Spurs | ||
1 | 76ers | -- | Tuesday, July 7 (5 PM) | Thursday, July 9 (7 PM) | Monday, July 6 (5 PM) |
2 | Celtics | Tuesday, July 7 (5 PM) | -- | Monday, July 6 (7 PM) | Thursday, July 9 (5 PM) |
3 | Jazz | Thursday, July 9 (7 PM) | Monday, July 6 (7 PM) | -- | Tuesday, July 7 (7 PM) |
4 | Spurs | Monday, July 6 (5 PM) | Thursday, July 9 (5 PM) | Tuesday, July 7 (7 PM) | -- |
It's much easier to list it chronologically, unless you are just interested in the Jazz games.
Monday (July 6th):
- 76ers vs. Spurs -- 5 PM MT
- Celtics vs. Jazz -- 7 PM MT
Tuesday (July 7th):
- 76ers vs. Celtics -- 5 PM MT
- Spurs vs. Jazz -- 7 PM MT
Wednesday (July 8th):
- No games
Thursday (July 9th):
- Celtics vs. Spurs -- 5 PM MT
- 76ers vs. Jazz -- 7 PM MT
Not to just parrot the Jazz press release, but man, six games for $15? That's not bad if you have nothing going on that week. The rosters haven't been announced yet, but it's not a bad group of kids to watch:
- 76ers: Nerlens Noel, the theory of Joel Embiid, the ghost of Dario Saric, probably 8 guys you've never heard about
- Celtics: Marcus Smart, Evan Turner (?), Kelly Olynyk, Tyler Zeller, I mean, if you like white centers then you need these tix
- Jazz: Dante Exum, Rodney Hood, probably Jack Cooley, Bryce Cotton, Grant Jerrett, hopefully someone with a funny name
- Spurs: Cory Joseph? Aron Baynes? They'll probably win the championship or whatever, just because #Spurs
Let's not forget that this year's exciting rookies will be taking part in this as well! The 76ers, Celtics, and Jazz are all in the lotto, so you could be seeing three really talented guys! If you aren't going to drive down to Vegas, this is the best bet for summer league action.
Of course, the Jazz are going to Vegas immediately after this, so it's going to be a busy summer for our guys.
