It's the offseason and I'm bored, so let's play a game. I have some tables below with one of our frontcourt players' stats next to some comparable guys. These are all single season stats. Our guys are from this year, everyone else is from some random year (in the last 20 years) where their play was similar to what the Jazzman produced in similar minutes. To make things even more fun, I haven't used stats that are searchable on basketball-reference, ESPN, or stats.nba.com.
Before we start, here are the stats I'm using and their definitions:
- Offensive Win Share Percentage (OWS%) - Percentage of total win shares that are offensive
- Defensive Win Share Percentage (DWS%) - Percentage of total win shares that are defensive
- Win Shares per Game (WS/G) - Average win shares contributed in a single game (league average is about 0.075 per 36 minutes)
- Unassisted Field Goals Made per Game (UA-FG/G) - Shots the player created for himself
- Points per Possession (PPP) - Average points the player scores each time he uses a possession (includes turnovers)
- Points per Field Goal Attempt (PPFGA) - Average points a player scores each time he shoots
- Off. Contributions - Raw offensive numbers the player contributes per 100 possessions ((FGA * eFG%) + FTM + OREB + AST - TOV)
- Def. Contributions - Raw defensive numbers the player contributes per 100 possessions (STL + BLK + DREB - PF)
- Most Shots: Area - General area where the player takes the most shots
- Most Shots: Distance - Distance from the hoop where the player shoots the most
- Area eFG% - Effective field goal percentage from the area where the player shoots the most
- Area eFG% Rank - Of the 6 areas of the floor (restricted area, paint non-restricted, mid-range, left corner 3, right corner 3, and above the break 3), indicates if the player shooting from his best spot (1 means he's shooting from his best area, 6 is his worst)
