The Utah Jazz are having their last day of the Utah Summer League tonight, there are two more games. If you have been paying attention you may have known about this . . . but it's official now! A guy all of us wanted to see suit up and play is finally going to do it. Yes, if you show up tonight (and the game starts at 7 pm MT, so plan accordingly) you're going to get a chance to see the #12 pick of the 2015 NBA Draft take his first baby steps in his career -- none other than Trey Lyles! I know a lot of people jumped to some conclusions about his contract issue (some were right, some where less so), we have to be able to look beyond a player and separate what he does on the court from the machinations off whatever his people (agent, family, sponsors, old coaches, etc) tell him to do. This guy is 19 after all, I know from talking with people close to him that he does want to start his NBA career off. And doesn't want to wait anymore. He, like many 19 year olds, just wants to deffer the off the court stuff to people who have convinced him that they know best.

Now the Jazz know he's a good chemistry fit, but more than that, they drafted him for his on the court stuff. Things like his offensive ability, court vision, passing, paint scoring, and transition play. Essentially, everything the Jazz summer league team was missing from a bigman in Games 1 and 2 against the Boston Celtics and San Antonio Spurs. He looks to be a big help to this team in Game 3, against the Philadelphia 76ers and their best in the making, Jahlil Okafor.
It's going to be pretty exciting to watch, and I can't wait to begin falling in love with Trey Lyles the player after having to read so much speculation about him over the last week.
