The Utah Jazz announced that they have made another training camp cut — this time saying ‘so long’ to journeyman bigman Henry Sims.

Their Press Release is kind of brief:
The Utah Jazz announced today that the team has waived center Henry Sims. Following the move, Utah’s roster now stands at 16 players.
Sims (6-10, 248, Georgetown) appeared in three preseason games for the Jazz, averaging 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds in 6.3 minutes. He signed as a free agent on Sept. 21.
I like Sims. I’ve been a fan of his for a while; however, I don’t know if he has a spot on this team. So I understand the move by Dennis Lindsey and company. Rudy Gobert looks like he’s on the precipice of apotheosis. Jeff Withey still has a chance to make the team, and he’s more of a known product and is an NBA caliber defender. There are plenty of wing players who can fill in at power forward, meaning we may see more Derrick Favors at the five this year as well. It’s HARD to keep three non-stretch centers on a roster in today’s game. Maybe if one of them is a young prospect or something, but that’s not the case here.
Sims is 26 and went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft. THe only NBA teams he has played for are the New Orleans Hornets (2013), Cleveland Cavaliers (2013), Philadelphia 76ers (2014), and Brooklyn Nets (2016). I don’t know if he is going to make the jump to an NBA rotation -- but he can be on some team’s 15 man roster for sure.
Andy Larsen posits on twitter that perhaps Sims is fit for the same pipeline as Marcus Paige, and will be with the Salt Lake City Stars shortly. I don’t know if that’s going to be his future. He may try to stick with some other club or wait a bit to see what international offers show up. He hasn’t played outside of the USA since his time in the Philippine Basketball Association, in 2013.
At the very least, there’s always this:

Well, now I can try to make Henry Sims in The Sims and have him be room mates with some other weird computer people. Or you know, make him a part of the Jazz in NBA 2K17. Either / or, really.
The team is now at 16 of a max 15 players. The final days of Raul Neto / Chris Johnson / Jeff Withey are upon us. But more on that as we get more info.
