Tonight the Utah Jazz take on the New Orleans Pelicans. Two teams who have ties to the same geographic location. The night after Mardis Gras. Great, young, bigmen. So you know the main storyline is the respective revenge games for Kendrick Perkins (vs. the team that waived him after getting him in a trade) and Jeff Withey (vs. the team that drafted him, but didn't extend him). Okay, maybe those two guys don't even get 12 total minutes tonight, but it's fun to dream of them going head to head, clearing out and taking it to the rack. Actually, that may be a more entertaining game than the one we do get tonight.
When healthy, these two teams can pose problems for one another.
But the Pelies are missing their three best wings (Eric Gordon, Tyreke Evans, and Quincy Pondexter), and the Jazz are missing three of their best ball handlers (Dante Exum, Alec Burks, Trey Burke). It's the last game before the All-Star break, and the last chance for two non-All-Stars (Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert) to bang against All-Star bigman Anthony Davis. So there's at least that for the fans to watch tonight. Speaking of fans . . . I'm surprised there aren't more Jazzfans in Louisiana.
