NBA Playoffs 2016: Standings update -- While you were sleeping April 2nd

New, comments

Your daily playoff round-up is back!

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The NBA Playoffs are getting closer and closer. And everyone knows it. Another team bit the dust on their season last night, the Sacramento Kings now join the Denver Nuggets, New Orleans Pelicans, Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, and the Los Angeles Lakers as clubs that are now officially eliminated from playoff contention. On the other side of the standings we still see the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Los Angeles Clippers all but locking up the first four seeds in the West. The rest? Well, the rest remains undecided.

Seven teams were in action out West, and only one was West on West action. There were a few surprises last night too, so let's get into it.

2015 2016 WYWS - April 04 02 2016 Fixed

The Good:

  • [8] Utah Jazz beat the [13] Minnesota Timberwolves -- No Derrick Favors, no Dante Exum, no Alec Burks, but they still got it done. Utah is in partial control of their destiny, they just have to win the games on their schedule. They are doing a good job of it right now. They don't have control over injuries, but they've handled it well all season long
  • Boston Celtics beat the [1] Golden State Warriors -- Those ballerinas need to be humbled more, we let them off the hook.

The Bad:

The Meh:

Tonight's Action:

There are four games that deal with the West tonight; and honestly, there's only one that matters.

  • [1] Warriors vs. Raptors -- I can expect the Dubs to be motivated after blowing it last night
  • [6] Trail Blazers vs. Heat -- Let's go Heat!
  • [10] Nuggets vs. [11] Kings -- I'm a DeMarcus Cousins hater

For the Jazz, I guess, we're only rooting for the Heat tonight.
