Almost exactly 3 years ago, Joe Ingles was cut by the Los Angeles Clippers. The Utah Jazz thought enough of him to scoop him up off waivers a couple days later.
The thought at the time was that he would serve as a good mentor for fellow Australian rookie Dante Exum. Fast forward to today and he is a key contributor to a winning Jazz team.
His fit in Quin Snyder’s system is near perfect as a solid defender, smart passer, and knockdown 3 point shooter. I’ll be honest, heading into last season I would have told you that Ingles played way too many minutes the year prior. I could not have been more wrong and Jingling Joe quickly became a fan favorite.
Having signed what appeared to be a team friendly extension in the summer, Ingles is locked up in Utah for another 4 years. May we enjoy another great year from Joe on the pursuit of another playoff run. And more of this. Please always more of this:
Joe Ingles waited for DeAndre to get close, looked in his eyes, wet a 3 in his face, looked back at him. MUCHO DISRESPECTFUL pic.twitter.com/V0oCNoWzJF
