Utah Jazz Rank: 2nd most valuable is Ricky Rubio

But where would Man-Bun Ricky rank vs. no Man-Bun Ricky?

NBA: Preseason-Utah Jazz at Phoenix Suns Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Ricky Rubio was voted by you as the 2nd most valuable player on the Utah Jazz roster. The 26 year old Spanish point guard spent his entire career so far in Minnesota. How will he fare with the expectations of winning and making the playoffs?

We all know what Rubio is and what he is not. He’s an elite passer and playmaker, but not much of a shot maker. He’s a pesky defender, but not much of a finisher. There are people on both sides of those spectrums as far as what they think he will do on this Jazz roster.

Personally, I am very excited to see how Rubio makes everyone on this team better, particularly Rudy Gobert. Rudy has never been on the receiving end of the passes he’s about to get from his new point guard.

Dennis Lindsey got amazing value by trading only what will end up being a late 1st round draft pick for him. He’s under contract for 2 more years at about 14.5 a year. The Jazz could use some stability at the 1 spot, having been through more starters in the past few years than I can even count.

Could this be a career year for Rubio? Will he become what Lindsey sees in him, a reincarnation of Jason Kidd? Pretty soon we won’t have to wonder because the season is about to get under way.
