Utah Jazz Rank: Rudy Gobert is MVP

Could he be a league MVP candidate?

Much like the NBA season, the end result of this poll was known long before it actually began. Rudy Gobert has been voted the most valuable player on the Utah Jazz roster. And The Stifle Tower is his best nickname.

He’s certainly #1 on the Jazz roster, and he’s probably top 10 in the league. I’ll borrow from JazzBeetle’s sig line to help make the case: “Rudy Gobert- 1st in DRPM, 2nd in TS%, 2nd in WS and DRtg, 3rd in ORtg, 4th in WS/48, 5th in RPM, 6th in Wins, and 8th in VORP.”

He’s back in full force already, having a “quiet” game last night and still putting up 18 and 10. The Defensive Player of the Year candidate is as motivated as ever and ready to make even more noise this year. Don’t be surprised when he is ranked on MVP candidate lists all year as well. We are spoiled to have him.

To finish off our ranking of the 2017-2018 Utah Jazz roster, I’ll give a quick recap of how the voting went down.

  1. Rudy Gobert
  2. Ricky Rubio
  3. Rodney Hood
  4. Derrick Favors
  5. Joe Ingles
  6. Joe Johnson
  7. Donovan Mitchell
  8. Dante Exum
  9. Thabo Sefolosha
  10. Alec Burks
  11. Jonas Jerebko
  12. Ekpe Udoh
  13. Tony Bradley
  14. Eric Griffin
  15. Joel Bolomboy (since released)
  16. Royce O’Neale
  17. Nate Wolters (signed on 9/13 before ranking began)

And for a way too early and overreaction poll. (You could look at this as being over-ranked or under-ranked)
