The basketball gods giveth, the basketball gods taketh away. In a freak play last night, Derrick Favors fell into Rudy Gobert’s leg, sending Rudy to the locker room. Here’s the scoop from Shams:
Sources: Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert has been diagnosed with a sprained PCL in his left knee and bone bruise in tibia, expected to be sidelined for one month.

You have to feel for Rudy, because he’s such a competitor. He wants to be out helping the team in the worst way, and he’s run into a string of bad luck dating back to the playoffs last season.
As far as the team’s future is concerned, though, the Jazz have reason to hope. They had a good thing going when he was out of the rotation last time, and there’s no reason to doubt that they can find cohesion again. Derrick Favors, who went down with a gash on his eye, is questionable for tonight’s tilt against the Cleveland Cavaliers:
Derrick Favors is listed as questionable while Rudy Gobert, Raul Neto and Dante Exum are all listed as out.

Oh, and we’re still missing Raul Neto and Dante Exum, because that’s just how this season has gone so far. Jonas Jerebko is going to have to step up once again. We may even see Tony Bradley in a limited capacity. The team will be okay, though life without Rudy Gobert on the floor is no fun.
