The Downbeat: The Jazz are preparing to fight

The Utah Jazz are working out like Conor McGregor

As we creep closer to the start of next season, we’re starting to see signs of fight from the Utah Jazz. It’s time for your Wednesday downbeat.

Rudy Gobert and the Utah Jazz released some photos from their boxing workouts they’ve been doing this summer.

A post shared by Rudy Gobert (@rudygobert27) on

We know that Rudy Gobert trained for boxing while he was growing up and it’s cool to see him keep up that training. Rudy isn’t going to back down from anyone this season. I for one am ready for this year’s “I will fight you” Jazz team.

Along with Rudy, other Jazz players are showng getting in on the workouts.

The Utah Jazz social media team has been crushing it with some great content to help us get through this offseason. In this video you see Rudy with Raul Neto, Rodney Hood and Alec Burks. What I love is that Rudy’s bringing players together. They want to be around him. Rudy’s leadership is going to show up in a big way this season. Something this team was lacking when a certain former player was in charge.

By the way, Neto is getting absolutely yolked.

Yesterday, My_lo talked about the Dream Team (check out yesterday’s downbeat if you haven’t). Today the NBA History twitter account shared this old video of John Stockton walking through Barcelona being unnoticed.

It’s a funny story and it catches some of John’s personality. I’m just going to pretend that all encounters with John in public were like this.

It looks like Ekpe Udoh will be joining the Junior Jazz tour.

The elephant in ... this tweet ... is why? Is something happening with Joel Bolomboy? Do they not plan on him being on the team soon? Only time will tell.

Michael Rapaport was talking about reality TV and threw out some Jazz slander.

Now, I personally consider myself a connoisseur of reality television. I regularly watch the Real Housewives, Below Deck, Bachelor, Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise as well as Big Brother and Survivor. Wow, I just got a little sad.

But to say the Housewives are more entertaining than the Jazz? C’mon! I want to sit down with Michael Rapaport to watch Rudy dominate the paint. Once he does that, I know he’ll change his tune.
