Derrick Favors becomes the first starter ranked in this year’s most valuable player rankings for the Utah Jazz. Coming in as 5th shows you just how good Utah’s first 5 truly are. Favors finally stayed healthy last year and contributed in a big way.
When Rudy Gobert went down with injuries, Favors was key in preventing the team from falling into too big of a whole. The first round of the playoffs was awfully similar to last year when Favors stepped up big and helped the Jazz advance.
His raw stats from last season show you Favor’s willingness to sacrifice for the betterment of the team. He averaged 12.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game. He absolutely has the talent for better numbers. The Jazz rewarded him with a pay raise for this season and next (second season non-guaranteed). I’m counting on Favors to reward them back with another big year.
