Sorry for the break in rankings and voting everyone and thanks for your patience. I was out of town this week and stepped away from writing for the time being. But we’re back and ready to finish this out!
Ricky Rubio is the next man up in our ranking of the Utah Jazz roster this year. I can’t help but think that getting 84% of the vote was a little swayed by his performance in the first game of the season. Either way, 4th is certainly fair considering the talent on this roster.
Last year was a tale of 2 halves for the Spanish guard. He was objectively pretty poor to start the season, but Quin Snyder’s patience paid off by season’s end. In the end, he averaged 13.1 points (career high), 4.6 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and shot 35.2% from 3 (career high). He was one of only 10 players to hit those numbers last year.
He is off to a similarly poor start this season, which has made it easy to forget just how good he was at the end of the season last year. I’m willing to be patient with him again and let him work through the early struggles, especially with Dante Exum being effective enough to make up for it when necessary.
