Now the Utah Jazz can say they lost out on the services for the Chicago Bulls’ Nikola Mirotic. The stretch big man is headed to New Orleans according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN for Omer Asik, Tony Allen, and a first round draft pick with minimal protections. New Orleans is also signing Greg Monroe in a move that make you go “huh?”
New Orleans is planning to guarantee the $12.5M salary of Mirotic in the 2018-19 season, league sources tell ESPN. That clinched a deal. Omer Asik and a future first-rounder part of package to Bulls, league source tells ESPN.

Sigh ...
The Utah Jazz will now have to find a different route if they are going to find a stretch four who could be paired with Rudy Gobert. This might make Utah’s trade deadline plans turn more long-term focused rather than #playoffpush focused.
