NBA Trade Rumor: Utah's Derrick Favors appears to be Cleveland's Plan B

Cavs are after either DeAndre Jordan or Derrick Favors.

The chaos surrounding the Cleveland Cavaliers hasn't stopped them from being active before the NBA Trade Deadline according to Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports. While a lot of that attention is directed at DeAndre Jordan of the LA Clippers, the Cavs are looking at Derrick Favors as their Plan B if they are unable to pry Jordan away from LA. Shams had this to say about the situation on the Yahoo! Sports podcast with Chris Mannix.

They are going to be aggressive ... They are looking at guys like Favors. DeAndre Jordan is their #1 target. If they can somehow convince the Clippers to take on one of their bad contracts, whether it's J.R. Smith or Tristan Thompson, and give their own 1st, they would jump on that.

While DeAndre Jordan is their dream scenario, I can't see LA wanting to give him up unless they're getting a high lottery pick. Unless Cleveland gives up the Brooklyn Nets pick, I don't see them going for it. One thing they could do with LA is give them the ability to switch picks depending on whose pick is higher. Cleveland still keeps a lottery pick, but LA gets additional tries at the #1 pick.

More than likely, the Utah Jazz are the Cavs' dance partner in this scenario. The Jazz don't do this without a draft pick. They're not going to take a bad contract for nothing. It would take the Cavs' pick to get this done. Is Cleveland willing to give that up for a one year rental? We'll see.
