The Utah Jazz fell late to the San Antonio Spurs in one of the most exciting games of the year. It was a playoff atmosphere with seeding on the line as the Jazz and Spurs went back and forth all game.
Lamarcus Aldridge was mammoth for the Spurs and the Jazz had very few answers. His 45 points on 67% shooting were unbelievable and proved to be insurmountable.
Patty Mills was also a major contributor scoring 25 points and hitting big shots and free throws to close the game.
Donovan Mitchell was unreal. He was missing shots to start the game, but the second half he erupted putting his point total to 35. His late game shotmaking is remarkable. To think that we’re watching a rookie guard close games, and with such confidence, is insane. His talent is so apparent and obvious, it just oozes off the screen.
The fact the Jazz were in this game with Aldridge’s monster night just shows how much of a star he is. He deserves the rookie of the year, but that’s not enough. Donovan Mitchell is going to be a perennial all-star for years to come. He’s not just one of the best rookies in the league, but one of the best players.
