Something is going to happen tomorrow morning that has never happened before in the history of mankind. Two basketball giants, Donovan Mitchell, and Joe Ingles, are going to play against each other, in a formal, organized game of basketball. It is truly a historic feat, and of course, IT’S LIVE AT 3:30 IN THE MORNING. Real ones will be watching live, while others might use their DVRs or replaying devices to catch the game at a later, more natural time to watch a basketball game. But it’s Spida vs Jingles, Team USA vs Australia, coming right up in an awesome bout that is going to be a lot of fun.

What to Watch For:

Talkin the Talk

We should all be watching for the exact same reason: the Joe Ingles smack-talk. Ingles has been quite the tease to Mitchell on social media and in the locker room since Donovan arrived in Utah, but this is the first time he’ll get a chance to talk as an opponent in a real game. It’s must-watch TV. In fact, Joe already got an early start to the talking, telling a report he might “get his first dunk on someone in a while” when asked what he’s got in store for Donovan Mitchell.

Joe and Don are great buddies, and it will be fun to see how they interact with each other as opponents. If Joe Ingles does in fact dunk on Mitchell, we’re all going to collectively lose our minds.

Australia a real threat?

USA coach Gregg Popovich called Australia a “huge, huge threat” in the FIBA World Cup. This will be a great way to gauge how big of a threat they are to the Americans and the rest of the teams in the World Cup.

Ground Rules

Welcome to the SLC Dunk Game Thread.

Dunkers know how this thing works, but for you lurkers ready to make the jump to Dunker, we have a few guidelines. Remember to follow our community guidelines (no swearing, trolling, excessive use of Jerry Sloan’s name in vain, no personal attacks, no debates about Utah liquor laws, etc.). Remember to have fun. Anyone who dare blasphemes that Tim Duncan was a Power Forward (this means you, Pounding the Rock), Ben Simmons can hit threes, Gordon Hayward should not be booed, Exum Island isn’t a 5-Star resort, Donovan Mitchell is Monta Ellis 2.0, men should never cry or John Stockton is not the best point guard of all-time will receive an automatic ban. Just kidding. But seriously.
