After their surprising upset at the hands of Patty Mills and Joe Ingles, the USA Men’s World Cup Team will take on Canada.
The loss against Australia is a chance for the United States to face adversity early and learn from it.
Canada may seem like a easy opponent but Australia proved that these teams are coming out to give the US their best shot. If the US team doesn’t play right, and Canada has a solid night, they could be looking at another loss.
What to watch for
The loss against Australia was caused by Joe Ingles and Patty Mills. The US could not get stops against Mills. On offense their possessions stagnated and ended in multiple Kemba Walker pull up jumpers.
That’s not a winning formula.
Walker has to be more effective on the defensive end and has to be better at involving his teammates. The entire game Donovan Mitchell was hounded by Australian defenders keeping the ball from him.
Can Kemba Walker involve his teammates better?
If Donovan Mitchell, and the other scoring wings on the team, can get more involved on offense, team USA should win handily. But there might be a game plan out there now for other teams. Can you make team USA run the Charlotte offense? Because apparently, if you can, you have a chance to win.
Welcome to the SLC Dunk Game Thread.
Dunkers know how this thing works, but for you lurkers ready to make the jump to Dunker, we have a few guidelines. Remember to follow our community guidelines (no swearing, trolling, excessive use of Jerry Sloan’s name in vain, no personal attacks, no debates about Utah liquor laws, etc.). Remember to have fun. Anyone who dare blasphemes that Tim Duncan was a Power Forward (this means you, Pounding the Rock), Ben Simmons can hit threes, Gordon Haywardshould not be booed, Exum Island isn’t a 5-Star resort, Donovan Mitchell is Monta Ellis 2.0, men should never cry or John Stockton is not the best point guard of all-time will receive an automatic ban. Just kidding. But seriously.
