Normally facing a team minus their best player would seem like a huge advantage for the Jazz. Considering their recent 5-game losing streak, maybe not so much.
In Utah’s slump seemingly every night their opponent missed key players and were able to handle the Jazz with relative ease. The Mavericks, minus Luka Doncic, might be missing too much though.
Luka Doncic is listed as out for Monday’s game vs. Utah on the NBA’s latest injury report.
— Callie Caplan (@CallieCaplan) February 9, 2020
Carlisle has been noncommittal on which game, if either, Doncic will return before All-Star break. Teams have until 5 p.m. local time the day before a game to designate an availability.
Doncic has been one of the best players in the NBA this season and is the focal point of everything the Mavericks do. Although we said the same thing when Utah faced Houston minus James Harden and Russell Westbrook and Eric Gordon scored 50 with relative ease.
Now that Utah has pulled off two wins in a row, can they take advantage this time?

What to watch for?
Are the Jazz finally figuring out their chemistry with Mike Conley?
Quin Snyder has made some adjustments that have looked to really helped. Mike Conley has been playing with the second unit more than Donovan Mitchell and it has looked good. It’s only a few games but it’s a good sign.
His numbers have also been really good since moving to the starting unit and the Jazz look like they’re starting to gel a little bit more.
Big development out West: Mike Conley looking like Mike Conley again. Averaging 20-5-5 over his last four games and finally attacking with purpose. Floater back, Conley back.

It still isn’t perfect. Joe Ingles hasn’t looked the same in the last two weeks. It could be Conley related and it could be something else. Regardless, the Jazz are showing signs of becoming the team Jazz fans were hoping to see.
Because the Jazz have so many weapons opposing teams have to focus on, every night someone is capable of going off. If they lock in on Mitchell, Conley can go off. If they focus on Bogdanovic or Ingles, Jordan Clarkson can roll.
The Jazz are a Hydra right now that comes at you from all directions and as long as they can stay cohesive as a unit, there’s no reason they can’t hit their ceiling.

Game Thread Ground Rules
Welcome to the SLC Dunk Game Thread.
Dunkers know how this thing works, but for you lurkers ready to make the jump to Dunker, we have a few guidelines. Remember to follow our community guidelines (no swearing, trolling, excessive use of Jerry Sloan’s name in vain, no personal attacks, no debates about Utah liquor laws, etc.). Remember to have fun. Anyone who dare blasphemes that Tim Duncan was a Power Forward (this means you, Pounding the Rock), Ben Simmons can hit threes, Gordon Hayward should not be booed, Donovan Mitchell is Monta Ellis 2.0, men should never cry, Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert do not deserve to be All-Stars or John Stockton is not the best point guard of all-time will receive an automatic ban. Just kidding. But seriously.
