Off-Season Trades

With the beef between Donovan and Rudy, many people have speculated on trades. While I don't think the Jazz will trade either one, I thought it would be fun to explore the idea. I originally intended this as a comment on another post but it got too big.

Trade 1

Brooklyn gets:

Donovan Mitchell

Al-Farouq Aminu

Ed Davis

Tony Bradley

Orlando gets:

Caris Levert

Utah gets:

Spencer Dinwiddie

Jonathan Isaac

Nets 2021 and 2023 1st Rd draft pick

2024 1st Rd draft swap

Why for Brooklyn:

They get a young star in Donovan Mitchell to pair with their other stars. They also get a solid veteran PF in Aminu who can round out their rotation. Davis and Bradly are for salary matching purposes but they can add value as backups or be traded for something.

Why for Orlando

They get a potential star in Levert. They need more scoring and playmaking and Levert provides that in spades. Plus they have Chuma Okeke to help fill in at PF with Aaron Gordon.

Why for Utah

This trade nets Utah a replacement for Mitchell. Yes Dinwiddie isn't as good. But he is tall and very solid. He could start with Conley. Isaac would help form one of the most terrifying front courts in the NBA. He and Gobert are brilliant defensively and would make people hate to play the Jazz. The two picks and the swap gives Utah a lot of future capital to make up for losing Mitchell and Bradley and the fact that Dinwiddie only has a year left on his contract(player option the year after) so the Jazz might only have him for a year.

Trade 2

Brooklyn gets:

Rudy Gobert

Orlando gets:

Caris Levert

Utah gets:

Jarret Allen

Al-Farouq Aminu

Jonathan Isaac

2023 1st Rd pick (Emoni Bates!)

Why for Brooklyn:

They get a third star. One that doesn't need the ball in his hands and can make their offense dominant. They give up less picks because Gobert only has a year left on his contract and they don't get Aminu.

Why for Orlando:

Same as above. Here it is again. They get a potential star in Levert. They need more scoring and playmaking and Levert provides that in spades. Plus they have Chuma Okeke to help fill in at PF with Aaron Gordon.

Why for Utah:

They replace Gobert with a young center with upside. Plus many years of contract control. Then they get a great PF rotation by adding Isaac and Aminu. Throw in Niang when ya need more offense and call it good.

What do you think. Do you like either one of the trades?
