Jazz get off to a good start in showdown with the Clippers

The Utah Jazz bounced back after a disappointing loss to claim the victory against the Los Angeles Clippers tonight. It’s amazing how much better their energy and execution looked tonight vs last night. But it is good to see them get the win and against a quality team no less. It looked like the Jazz were going to be on cruise control for most of the night but the Clippers made it interesting in the 4th quarter and the Jazz were able to hold on.

For the Jazz, Mike Conley had a stellar game with 33 points while shooting over 50% overall. Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert had a quiet night with 15 and 12 points respectively, however, Rudy Gobert did a lot of other little things like set great screens for Conley all night long. Derrick Favors showed why the Jazz wanted him back by providing crucial backup minutes for Rudy Gobert.

The Clippers star duo Paul George and Kawhi Leonard filled up the box score but George shot an inefficient 6-22 for 25 points. Other than their two stars, the Clippers didn’t get much from the bench and could not overcome Mike Conley’s offensive gem.

Next up for the Jazz is a trip to San Antonio on Sunday to start a seven game road trip

The Clippers take on the Suns in Phoenix on Sunday.
