Christian Wood (HOU)

In early 2020, I wrote an article about how Utah should pursue Christian Wood of the then Detroit Pistons. Since then, Houston traded Ariza, Stewart, and a handful of future draft picks to Detroit for Wood. So far, through 4 games for Houston, Wood is averaging 36.5 minutes, 23.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, and 1 steal per game on 55% FG / 35% 3P shooting. He's also getting 4.3 FTA per game. He is quickly becoming a very valuable asset in the NBA for his offense and defense. Wood is 6'10 with great length who can play face-up offense, has great ball handling skills for his size, and play pretty good defense. Even though I am very happy with Utah's main rotation, and Utah is pretty cash-strapped right now, I don't know who I would have sacrificed for Wood, but it would probably be Bogie or Favors with other lesser assets or future draft picks to sweeten the deal. Wood's contract is 3-yr, $41M with Houston signed Nov 24. Pretty big steal if you ask me.
