Jazz hit the road to face banged up Clippers

Utah looking to extend winning streak to 9.

The Jazz look to keep their perfect February record rolling tonight as they face the Clippers in Los Angeles. This game might not have as much hype as it did a few weeks ago, with the Clippers dealing with several injuries to key players. Paul George has already been ruled out with a toe injury, and Kawhi Leonard is questionable due to a lower leg injury. No Nic Batum for the Clips either, who’s out with a concussion. If Kawhi Leonard is unable to go tonight, the Clippers would be without their two best players, who also happen to be some of the best players in the NBA. Without them, the Clips are obviously a much different beast. LA is riding a little four game win streak of their own, so something’s gotta give with two win streaks coming in to tonight’s matchup.

The Jazz injury report is trending is the right direction, with Mike Conley being upgraded to questionable with that hamstring soreness that’s kept him out of the past few games. If Mike can go tonight, that would be a great sign. With the All-Star voting coming to a close, Conley needs to have all the good games that he can in time for coaches and media to take note as they consider their starters and reserve selections in the All-Star game.

What to watch for

Containing Lou-Will

If Kawhi Leonard cant make it tonight with that leg injury, Lou Williams is going to be the dude for the Clippers. Williams is one of those players that has a chance to score 40 on any given night. Give him a night without his two All-Star teammates and green light? He may go for 50. The Jazz have struggled at times this season defending guards, so it will definitely be a key to tonight’s victory and matchup to monitor as the game goes.

Jordan Clarkson’s Encore

Jordan Clarkson gave the Jazz one of the best performances of the season the other night against the 76ers. JC dropped a easy 40-piece off the bench, and at times he was truly unstoppable. How does he follow up that performance? As a notorious hot-hot/cold-cold player, it will be interesting to see how Clarkson plays tonight. He’s been so good this entire season, and actually unbelievably consistent considering his prior NBA seasons. Clarkson is an absolute BEAST right now, can the Clippers slow him down?

Mike Conley’s All-Star Hopes

The Jazz are reporting Mike Conley as questionable tonight, which is the first time he hasn’t been ‘OUT’ for the last few games. If Conley is going to get his first career All-Star nod, its absolutely critical that he gets back to playing and playing like he was before the injury. With his All-Star hopes dwindling, it might take a miracle at this point to get Conley in the All-Star game. The most important thing here is Conley’s health, so if he’s not quite ready to go, it’s not worth rushing him back just at the slim chance he makes the ASG. If he is 100% though, we’d love to see Mike back in action. Conley’s been amazing this season, and has been one of the most important pieces in the Jazz’s success. If Mike gets some action tonight, it’ll be fun to watch him go at it once again.
