This is a huge loss for the Utah Jazz but even more the Utah community. Eaton was the cornerstone of the Jazz defense in the 80s and early 90s, but he was also a pillar of kindness in Utah. From mechanic, to NBA star to motivational speaker, Mark Eaton was a special person that touched a lot of lives. He was also a mentor to Rudy Gobert, providing leadership and friendship to a player that learned from Eaton and then surpassed him in his ability on the court. Knowing the person Mark Eaton was, no one would have been happier to see it.
He will be greatly missed.
RIP, Mark Eaton.
