The Utah Jazz announced they have exercised team options on Ochai Agbaji and Walker Kessler.

This isn’t a surprise with the level of play and improvement from both players. Walker Kessler has been a big surprise for the Jazz as he’s been a real contributor right away. Kessler worked his way to the starting lineup in his rookie season, then played so well he earned third place in Rookie of the Year voting. He followed that up by playing should have played more with Team USA. In the short time we’ve seen him this season, it looks like Kessler is adding more to his game. We’ve seen more post moves along with more shots from three. If he can add those to his game, he becomes quite the player for the Jazz moving forward.

Ochai Agbaji has also shown great progress with the Jazz, so this isn’t a surprise either. His size, athleticism, and shooting have all been apparent since he joined the league, but what’s been impressive this season with Agbaji is the level of confidence he’s bringing night in and night out. His cutting to the basket has been even better this season and we’re also seeing him score in transition as well as in the half-court more often. If his pull-up threes can start falling more regularly, he becomes a real weapon as a multi-tool three and D player.
