The All-Star game is in 45 days, voting has begun, and today the first results were released. I’m sure you’ll be surprised to see that Lebron and Giannis lead the voting and the majority of players getting votes are in big markets. I really was surprised to see that our Finnish king wasn’t just left out of the top 10 Western Conference front-court players, he was behind quite a few players I don’t think are better than him. With that said, it’s time to get started on the 2024 Lauri Markkanen is an All-Star campaign. As campaign manager I will be going through why Lauri is more than just an All-Star, he’s one of the best frontcourt players in the Western Conference.

Lauri is currently averaging 23.5 points per game, 8.4 rebounds per game, and is shooting 49% from 2, 38% from 3, and 86% from the free throw line. I could end the article right here, those numbers are enough. But for the sake of the campaign, let’s highlight 2 more stats.

55% on 3’s from the left corner

While a niche stat, it’s better than every player in the top 10 except for Kevin Durant.

9.4 points per game on catch and shoots

The best amongst 7 footers by almost 2x

Lauri has missed 10 games and had a few shooting slumps but is still emerging as one of the best shooters in the league. As the season progresses and he gets healthier I expect his drives will be up which should result in more free throws per game.

As Lauri’s campaign gets rolling, we will continue to check in on the progress and hopefully see Lauri in the 2024 All-Star game.
