Rudy Gobert has been named to the All-NBA 3rd team, his 4th All-NBA selection. This is just another award for Gobert whose trophy shelf is gonna need a few extra supports with all the new accolades this season.
For the season Gobert averaged 14.3 points, 13.5 rebounds and 2.7 blocks. Gobert was also tops in the league in things like defensive win shares, defensive real plus minus etc. Basically if it’s a stat that indicates winning, Gobert was at the top. The Utah Jazz were vastly better all season in multiple categories when Gobert was on the floor with a top ten defense and offense with Gobert and ended the season with the best record in the league.

Gobert was one of the most dominant players in the league, and this award is more than deserved.
For Donovan Mitchell is this is a huge disappointment. The head of the snake for one of the elite offenses in the league, and the best record in the NBA, is not being rewarded for an incredible season.
Mitchell did miss time to injury but other players like Lebron James, who missed more games than Mitchell, are allowed on the team regardless of any perceived media requirements. And so the team with with best record in the league some how did with with only a 3rd-team NBA guy.
After 2-straight playoffs with remarkable performances, Mitchell has cemented himself as one of the best in the league and will assuredly make the team in the future. That doesn’t dull the pain of missing the team, especially when you consider how this will affect Mitchell financially.
Expensive night for Boston's Jayson Tatum and Utah's Donovan Mitchell, whose recent extensions would have been worth $33 million more had they been selected to any All-NBA team.

Dallas' first-teamer Luka Doncic is now eligible for a five-year, $202 million extension in August. https://t.co/BgrEQstbkJ
With all that said, a huge congratulations to Rudy Gobert on another impressive season! I have no doubt that I’ll be writing this article again for Donovan Mitchell as well with his remarkable development.
