With the 13th pick of the 2015 NBA Draft . . . the Phoenix Suns select Kevon Looney from the University of California - Los Angeles. Looney, hopefully, doesn't fall this deep on draft night, he has a great personality (probably an overrated thing for reporters) and Top 10 pick talent. The Phoenix Suns are doing two things very poorly right now. They're not winning enough, and they're not really developing. Their "All Point Guards All The Time" experiment flopped this year, partly due to injuries, partly due to Rookie scale contract gripes. I don't know what they are going to do with Eric Bledsoe, Reggie Bullock, and free agent Brandon Knight. I personally think that Alex Len is an albatross and the Suns could easily fall in love with any number of bigmen that have been picked ahead of them in this mock draft. But there's one clear way to go at this stage, and it's to get a little bit Looney. Looney, who has received comparisons to such talented point forwards like Andrei Kirilenko and Lamar Odom, can handle the ball and play both the four and the three. Those are precisely the spots that Markieff Morris and Marcus Morris play. Looney fits in with the Suns offense in being a guy who can face up and shoot the three while being 6'10. The Morris Twins are in off-the-court trouble, but are still very talented. Looney would fit in well, and more importantly, he's pretty much the best player on the board. Phoenix can't afford to pick for need, but in this case it seems to satisfy both need and fit. An alternative here would be Sam Dekker, but I don't think he's as well rounded. He does fit the Phoenix Phenotype though. Meh.
